After completing the program, she secured an apprenticeship and now works as a chef at a new restaurant in Adelaide. Katie quickly discovered her passion for cooking and became inspired by her lead trainer, Ruth, and support trainer, Paul. They recognised her potential and offered to help her secure an apprenticeship if she stuck to the program, which she did. Since then, she has gained new skills, confidence, and a better work-life balance.
“I often think of the Nourish program and how far my skills, knowledge, teamwork and communication have developed. My dream is to open my own restaurant one day and to be the head chef there. The Nourish program is a great steppingstone if you want to work in the hospitality industry or for learning cooking skills. But it also offers you more than this, it gives you skills in working front of house, learning how to set tables, barista training, writing resumes and other life skills that are crucial to gaining employment.” said Katie.
We are forever grateful to have partners like The Morialta Charitable Trust to support our Nourish Program and help us deliver magnificent impact in the community.
